Frequently asked questions

How much does the Swiss vignette cost in euros?
€42.99 (CHF 40); only the rate changes the euro amount, not the price. The Swiss price has been unchanged since 1995, so the 2025 and 2026 vignettes both cost €42.99 (CHF 40). However, the 2025 vignette has not been valid since 31 January 2026 — for any trip in 2026 you need the 2026 vignette.
Do motorcycles need a Swiss vignette?
Yes. Motorcycles use the same annual €42.99 (CHF 40) vignette as cars up to 3.5 t.
Do trailers need a separate Swiss vignette?
Yes. A trailer or caravan on a motorway needs its own vignette.
Does a motorhome need a Swiss vignette?
Yes, up to 3.5 t: it uses the same €42.99 (CHF 40) annual vignette as cars. Above 3.5 t the vehicle falls under the lump-sum heavy vehicle charge (PSVA), not the vignette.
Is there any short-term Swiss vignette for a one-day transit?
No. Switzerland only offers the annual vignette.
Should I choose the sticker or the e-vignette?
The price and validity are the same. The e-vignette is usually easier for rental cars and last-minute trips, while the sticker still works well if you prefer a physical format.
